Memorial of Aloysius Gonzaga

  • First reading: 2nd Corinthians 12: 1-10
  • Psalm: 34:7-12 (Taste and see the goodness of the Lord)
  • Gospel: Mathew 6: 24-34

A Brief Homily

Today’s Gospel reminds us that we cannot serve both God and money. Jesus calls us to trust fully in God, who provides for every need. Like the birds and flowers, we are precious in God’s eyes. Paul, in weakness, discovered God’s strength—“My grace is enough for you.” St. Aloysius Gonzaga lived this trust completely, giving up wealth and comfort to serve God in purity and love. We are invited to do the same: seek first God’s kingdom. Even in trials, God is our strength, our provider, and our joy. Taste and see His goodness daily.

Inspiration Message

  1. Trust God Completely: Just like the birds and flowers, we should not worry about tomorrow. God knows what we need and will always take care of us.
  2. Put God First: We cannot serve both God and money. A true Christian makes God the top priority in everything—work, choices, and life plans.
  3. God’s Grace is Enough: Even when we feel weak or face problems, God’s grace gives us strength and peace. We don’t have to be perfect—just faithful.
  4. Let Go of Worry: Worry steals our joy. Jesus invites us to live one day at a time and trust that He will provide for all our needs.
  5. Live a Pure and Simple Life: Like St. Aloysius, we are called to live a life of purity, humility, and service to others, focusing on things that lead us closer to God.

    Morning Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for this new day. Help me not to chase after the things of this world but to store up treasures in heaven. When I feel weak or burdened, remind me that You are my strength. Shine Your light in my heart so that I may walk in truth and love. Like St. Paul, may I trust You in all things. Rescue me from distress and guide me in Your peace. Amen. May the Almighty God Bless you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
