SATURDAY AFTER EPIPHANY

January 11, 2025

  • First reading: 1 John 5: 14-21
  • Psalm:149: 1-6, 9 (The Lord takes delight in his people)
  • Gospel: John 3: 22-30
Brief Homily

In today’s Gospel, we see John the Baptist humbly accepting his role in God’s plan. He knows that his mission is to prepare the way for Jesus, and he joyfully steps aside when Jesus’ ministry begins to grow. John’s words remind us that we must always decrease so that Christ may increase in our lives. Our joy should come from knowing that we are part of God’s plan, not from seeking glory for ourselves. As we continue our journey of faith, let us embrace humility, giving God the glory He deserves, and allowing Jesus to be the center of our lives. Like John, we are called to point others to Christ, bringing them closer to Him through our actions and words.

Morning Prayer

Lord, thank you for this new day. Help me to humble myself and let You be the center of my life. May I find joy in serving Your purpose and pointing others to You. Help me decrease so that You can increase in my heart and actions. Guide my thoughts and deeds to bring glory to Your name today. I trust in Your plan for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. May the Almighty God Bless you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Inspiration Message
  1. Embrace Humility: Just like John the Baptist, we are called to humble ourselves and let Christ take the center stage in our lives. It’s not about our glory, but His.
  2. Joy in Serving God’s Plan: Our true joy comes from knowing that we are part of God’s purpose, not from seeking fame or recognition.
  3. Point Others to Christ: Like John, we are called to direct others to Jesus, helping them encounter Him through our actions and words.
  4. Decrease to Let Christ Increase: Let go of personal desires and allow Christ to grow stronger in our lives, guiding our decisions and actions.
  5. Live for God’s Glory: Every moment should be an opportunity to honor and glorify God, acknowledging that everything we do is for Him.
