FRIDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIMES

January 24, 2025

Memorial of Francis De Sales
  • First reading: Hebrew 8:6-13
  • Psalm: 85:7, 9-14 (Kindness and truth shall meet)
  • Gospel: Mark 3:13-19
A Brief Homily

Today’s readings reveal God’s deep desire to renew and guide us. In Hebrews, Jesus mediates a new and better covenant, written in our hearts, not on tablets of stone. This covenant brings forgiveness and a personal relationship with God. In the Gospel, Jesus calls His apostles, choosing them to share in His mission of love and truth.

St. Francis de Sales reminds us to live with gentleness and devotion. Like the apostles, Jesus calls us to share His message, guided by truth and kindness. Let us open our hearts to God’s covenant and live as His faithful witnesses.

Inspiration Message
  1. God’s new covenant is personal – He writes His law in our hearts, inviting us to a deep, loving relationship with Him.
  2. Jesus forgives and renews – Trust in His mercy, and let go of guilt, knowing He offers a fresh start.
  3. Jesus calls each of us – Like the apostles, we are chosen to share His love and truth in our unique ways.
  4. Live with kindness and truth – Follow God’s example by being gentle, honest, and loving in all your actions.
  5. Be a witness – Share your faith through words and deeds, inspiring others to know and follow Jesus.
Morning Prayer

Good morning, Lord. Thank You for the new covenant You’ve written in my heart, offering forgiveness and a fresh start each day. Help me to live with kindness and truth, reflecting Your love in my actions. Teach me to answer Your call, like the apostles, and to share Your message of hope and mercy with others. Strengthen me to be a faithful witness of Your grace, and guide me to walk closely with You today. Amen.
