GOD DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKE

Once upon a time, a king decided to go hunting accompanied by his loyal servant. During the hunt, the king accidentally injured his fingers while shooting an arrow. Feeling the pain, the servant gently reminded him of the belief that God doesn’t make mistakes. This suggestion offended the king, who was aggravated by the comment. Upon returning home, still nursing his wound, the king summoned the servant and decided to dismiss him. He attributed his misfortune to God and held a grudge against the servant.

The servant, accepting his fate, gathered his belongings and bid farewell. As he left, he reiterated his belief: “God does not make mistakes.” Time passed, and the king’s fingers eventually healed. Brimming with confidence, he ventured into the woods alone for another hunting trip.

However, his luck took a turn for the worse when he was captured by forest giants.

These giants intended to offer him as a ritual sacrifice to their gods. Yet, as they examined him closely, they noticed the absence of some of his fingers. In their belief system, they could not present anything with imperfections to their deities. Therefore, they released the king, unable to fulfill their intended sacrifice due to his “defect.” Overwhelmed with relief, the king headed back home, grateful for his finger injury.

In light of this unexpected escape, he realized the truth in the servant’s words and sought reconciliation. He summoned the servant and humbly asked for forgiveness for his hasty dismissal. The servant, with a calm demeanor, reinforced his earlier statement: “God does not make mistakes.” He explained that the dismissal had ultimately saved his life, as he would have been the one sacrificed if they had been together.

The king comprehended the wisdom behind the servant’s words and came to embrace the lesson learned. The servant’s unwavering belief that “God does not make mistakes” resonated deeply, reminding both of them that seemingly adverse situations can hold hidden blessings and purpose.

Points of Reflection

  1. Trusting God in the Midst of Pain

The king’s initial reaction to his injury reflects a common human tendency to question or blame God when life takes an unexpected turn. Pain and suffering can cloud our understanding, leading us to doubt God’s goodness. However, just as the king’s injury ultimately spared his life, our trials often carry hidden blessings.

Reflection:

How do we respond when life doesn’t go as planned?

Can we, like the servant, trust that God is working even in our pain?

Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

  1. God’s Plan is Perfect, Even When It Seems Unfair

The servant’s dismissal appeared unjust, but it was an essential part of the divine plan. By being separated from the king, he was spared from being sacrificed by the giants. This shows that even situations we perceive as unfair or negative can serve a higher purpose.

Reflection:

Have you ever faced a situation that seemed unfair but later revealed a hidden blessing?

Are you willing to surrender to God’s plan, even when it’s unclear?

Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

  1. God Protects and Provides in Unexpected Ways

The giants’ rejection of the king as a sacrifice due to his injury underscores God’s providence. What the king initially viewed as a defect became his saving grace. Similarly, God often uses what we perceive as weaknesses or setbacks to accomplish His purpose in our lives.

Reflection:

How has God used your perceived weaknesses or challenges for His glory?

Can you see how God’s hand has protected you in ways you didn’t initially understand?

2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us of God’s words: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

  1. The Power of Forgiveness and Reconciliation

The king’s realization of his error led him to seek forgiveness from the servant. This act of humility and reconciliation reflects the transformative power of recognizing God’s sovereignty. When we acknowledge our mistakes and seek to make amends, we align ourselves with God’s will.

Reflection:

Are there areas in your life where you need to seek forgiveness or extend it?

How can humility deepen your trust in God’s plan?

Colossians 3:13 urges us, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

  1. Embracing the Bigger Picture

The servant’s unwavering faith in God’s wisdom serves as a reminder that our understanding is limited. What may appear as a mistake in the short term is often a part of God’s grand design for our ultimate good and His glory.

Reflection:

Are you able to trust God when life doesn’t make sense?

How can you strengthen your faith in His greater plan?

Isaiah 55:8-9 declares, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

God’s Wisdom is Supreme

The story of the king and his servant teaches us to trust in God’s plan, even when life feels uncertain or unfair. God’s ways are perfect, and He is always working for our good, even in the midst of trials. Christians are called to live with unwavering faith, knowing that the One who holds the universe also holds every detail of our lives.

Let us, like the servant, proclaim boldly, “God does not make mistakes,” and trust that His plans for us are always good. As Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

May this reflection inspire you to live with faith, hope, and trust in the unfailing wisdom of God.
