Memorial of St. Agatha, Virgin and Martyr

  • First reading: Hebrews 12:4-7. 11-15
  • Psalm: 103: 1-2, 13-14, 17-18 (The Mercy of the Lord is Everlasting upon those who hold him in fear)
  • Gospel: Mark 6:1-6

 A Brief Homily

Today, we honor St. Agatha, a woman who endured suffering for her faith. In the first reading, we are reminded that God disciplines those He loves, just as a father disciplines his child. Trials may be difficult, but they help us grow in holiness and perseverance. In the Gospel, Jesus faces rejection in His hometown. Like Jesus, we too may face challenges, but God’s mercy is always there to guide and strengthen us. Let us, like St. Agatha, hold firm to our faith, trusting in God’s everlasting love and mercy, especially during tough times.

 Inspiration Message
  1. Embrace Trials with Faith: Just as God disciplines us for our good, we should embrace challenges with faith, knowing they help us grow spiritually.
  2. God’s Love Never Fails: No matter what hardships we face, God’s love and mercy remain constant. We can always rely on His unwavering support.
  3. Persevere Like St. Agatha: Like St. Agatha, who remained strong in her faith despite suffering, we are called to stand firm in our beliefs, no matter the difficulties.
  4. Expect Rejection but Keep Going: Even Jesus was rejected in His hometown, so we should expect challenges and opposition but continue to share God’s love.
  5. Trust in God’s Timing: Through all hardships and rejections, God’s timing is perfect, and He will strengthen us to face every trial. Stay hopeful and patient.
Morning Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your unchanging love and mercy. Help me embrace the trials I face today with faith, knowing they strengthen me. Like St. Agatha, grant me the courage to stand firm in my beliefs, even when I face opposition. I trust in Your perfect timing, and I know You will provide me with the strength I need. Guide my steps and let Your peace fill my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen. May the almighty God bless you, The Father and The Son and The Holy Spirit. Amen
