FRIDAY OF THE SIXTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 2

July 24 - July 25
  • First reading: Jeremiah 3: 14-17
  • Psalm: Jeremiah 31: 10-13 (The Lord will keep us as a shepherd keeps his flock.)
  • Gospel: Matthew 13: 18-23
A Brief Homily

Today’s readings remind us that God is a loving Shepherd who never gives up on His people. In the first reading, God calls His people to return to Him. He promises to gather them, give them faithful shepherds, and live among them. The Psalm praises God, who cares for His people like a shepherd caring for his flock. In the Gospel, Jesus explains the parable of the sower. The seed is God’s Word, and the soil is our heart. Some hearts reject the Word, while others welcome it and produce good fruit. We are called to prepare our hearts through prayer, repentance, and obedience. Let us listen carefully to God’s Word, remain close to our Good Shepherd, and bear fruits of love, faith, and holiness every day.

Practical Inspirational Insight
  1. Return to God Every Day: No matter how far you have gone, God lovingly invites you to come back to Him. His mercy is always greater than your sins.
  2. Listen to God’s Word: Read the Bible, pray, and reflect on God’s message daily. Let His Word guide your thoughts, decisions, and actions.
  3. Prepare Your Heart: Remove anger, pride, jealousy, and sin from your heart so that God’s Word can grow and bear good fruit.
  4. Trust the Good Shepherd: God knows your needs and never abandons you. Follow Him with confidence because He always leads you to peace and life.
  5. Bear Good Fruits: Show your faith through love, kindness, forgiveness, honesty, and service. A true Christian life is seen in good actions that glorify God.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this new day. Draw me closer to You and help me to return to You with all my heart. Open my heart to receive Your Word and let it bear good fruit in my life. Be my Good Shepherd and guide my thoughts, words, and actions today. Fill me with love, kindness, and faithfulness, so that I may glorify You in everything I do. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. May the Almighty God Bless you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
